Hitting you with a little palette cleanser post so all of you lovely new subscribers can get a taste of what to expect from my Substack. I woke up to an influx of new people thanks to my dear and supportive friend,
. Her shoutout from her Saturday Group Text (another great read and follow!) was a sweet surprise. Grace and I had the chillest little takeout dinner at her house the other night for a long overdue catch-up and quality time. I was so excited to show her this new purchase I found for 1/4 of the price of most on the market.I love the Fisherman sandal look right now and have been obsessing over ivory and white sandals in general. I actually don’t own any white-colored shoes! I’m trying to step up (pun intended) my shoe game this season so that when I do wear my neutral more put-together outfits, I can throw in a fun block heel and sandal that ties the look together perfectly. When I first saw these Gabriela Hearst sandals I was salivating and then almost choked on my own tongue when I saw the price tag was a whopping $890. Oh!
So after a quick search, I found and ordered these ones instead…

Remember that this is a safe space where I will not be judged for the current situation by my nightstand. Allora! How pretty are these? I love the thick straps, almond-shaped toe, and the price tag (currently on sale). I ordered a size 8 at first (worn in this photo) and it felt a little uncomfortable with my heel hanging off the back just a smidge. I should’ve known since I'm typically a UK 39. I then found them at DSW available in both narrow and wide fit. I ordered an 8.5 and went with the narrow. Target doesn’t have the wide fit option FYI. I suggest ordering from DSW if you want a wide fit. There are many great colors available. Worn in black below. I’m going to stick with the ivory pair though. They are just too perfect for summer when I don’t feel like getting a pedicure but still want to let my feet breathe.
Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what other options were out there for this style. I found them on Anthropologie for $150. Ordered them. Tried them on (below) and still loved the DSW/Target version more!! Granted I am not wearing the most flattering outfit with the Anthro ones but I didn’t need a nicer outfit to know that I didn’t love the shoe. The straps are thinner at the ankle and sit higher too and the toe shape is not as flattering as the DSW version. You can see my big toe kind of peeking out. Not very cute. They look more like the pair I wore in grade school vs the Target/DSW pair with the thicker straps that make the shoe feel chic and look luxurious. The Anthro pair were promptly returned!
This pair from Everlane I could already tell wouldn’t beat the DSW/Target ones either. The toe is more square than a flattering almond shape. If I had the money to splurge I would purchase this Emme Parsons pair in a heartbeat, but I’m also not one to justify spending too much on a trendy shoe.
Easter Sunday may be the perfect occasion to step out in my new luxury look for less.

This post swayed me. I'm skipping the Emmes (and the Everlanes) and copying you with the Target pair!
Welcome to Substack! Love the sandals. Also, totally unrelated, but I would love a desk/office tour—I need some inspo, and yours looks so chic!
