... taking you behind the scenes of a maternity shoot.
A process video and 'before and after' shots.
Last month I did a maternity photoshoot for a new client. I don’t typically photograph maternity shoots but this was a client referral from a friend of mine. When I asked the client if she had any inspo (aka inspiration photos) she could share, she didn’t have anything specific in mind which opened up the floor for me to suggest some fun ideas. We both really aligned with the vision and loved it! When new clients inquire about a photoshoot with me I try to take the time to chat with them and understand the deliverables and goals for the shoot. If my gut feels good about the potential collaboration I am quick to jump on board.
There are definitely times when my intuition doesn’t feel aligned with the requests and I decline the shoot. Something I always try to remember is that these inquiries are coming my way because the client already believes that their vision is something I am capable of achieving, so sometimes even when imposter syndrome can creep in, the last piece of the puzzle is me trusting I can execute on the project.
I filmed a little video showing my lighting setup below! After the video, I’ll share some tips on my thought process during the shoot.
